Supply list
You’ll need a printer to print out the coloring pages. Make sure it’s in good working condition with enough ink and paper!
Crayons or Colored Pencils: Gather a set of vibrant crayons or colored pencils. Make sure they are child-safe and easy to grip for little hands, like these Honey Sticks!
My favorite printer paper: Nice and thick! It holds up beautifully to wear-and-tear from kiddos!
The White House: A Presidential Abode:
Did you know that the White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States? It has stood tall and proud in Washington, D.C. for over two centuries, serving as a symbol of democracy and power. Imagine coloring this iconic structure and learning more about its significance!
Historical Significance of the White House
The White House has witnessed countless historical events, from presidential inaugurations to important diplomatic meetings. Construction began in 1792, making some portions of it over 200 years old! As your kids color, they can explore the rich heritage behind this remarkable building and learn about the impact it has had on American history.
Rising from the Ashes
Did you know that the White House has a tale of resilience? During the War of 1812, in 1814, British troops set fire to the White House, leaving it charred and in ruins. However, this iconic building rose from the ashes and was reconstructed, showcasing the American spirit of perseverance and determination!
Presidential Pups
Presidents aren’t the only ones who have called the White House home! Throughout the years, many presidential pooches have roamed its halls. From FDR’s beloved Fala to George W. Bush’s loyal Barney, these presidential pets have added an extra touch of warmth to the White House. As your kids color, they can imagine these furry friends running around the halls.
White House Trivia
Did you know that the White House has a total of 132 rooms, including the famous Oval Office, the East Room, and the State Dining Room? It also boasts 35 bathrooms, 412 doors, and 28 fireplaces! Encourage your little ones to color each room with creativity and explore the diverse spaces within this iconic building.
Garden Delights
The White House isn’t just an impressive interior; it also boasts stunning gardens and grounds. The South Lawn is a vast green expanse where presidential events and ceremonies take place. The Rose Garden, with its vibrant flowers, is a picturesque spot for photo ops. As your kids color the White House, they can imagine the beauty of these outdoor spaces and the events that happen there.
I hope your kids enjoy this White House printable!
Happy homeschooling,
