In our household, we are huge fans of the tin whistle! It’s always an exciting time when the second six-weeks of Classical Conversations is upon us, as it means it’s time to start playing the tin whistle…woot woot! I have even been known to grab the tin whistle** and play a tune or two…usually “The Shire“..of course, lol. Recently, I created some parts of a tin whistle coloring pages which include a blank page for copywork, as wellI think they are super-cute, and I hope they will be of great help to y’all!
**This year, our elderly tin whistle was on its last legs, so I just ordered this. So far, the sound is nice and clear! We will see how it holds up, ha!
History of the Tin Whistle
I thought it would be fun to do a little digging into the history of the tin whistle!
The tin whistle, as we know it today, has its origins in the early 19th century in the British Isles. It became a popular instrument in Irish and Scottish folk music and was made from tin-plated brass.
In Ireland, the tin whistle became an important part of traditional music and was often played in pubs and social gatherings. It was also used to accompany dancing, particularly in the popular Irish dance form, the reel.
During the 1960s and 1970s, the tin whistle gained worldwide recognition thanks to artists who showcased its full potential and raised its status!
And now…on to the printables..ENJOY!
Happy homeschooling,
Kitty
